There was much excitement - I bought a new toy. Straight out of the box this is the first picture I took. I have hours, days and years of learning, practise and enjoyment ahead. The feeling of creativity and potential artistry was rising, something that hadn’t really been present before; my interests often have a logical base and this could bridge the two.
Spring was coming and I was counting down the days until I would leave for the Iron Curtain. I had to develop at least a basic appreciation for the technical capacity of the device; I’d be disappointed if I left without a clue of how to read a situation and what I needed to do to capture what was in front of me.
So here’s to high resolution and depth of field; it’s going to be fun.
