In Zadar I met two wonderful Portuguese Erasmus students. Helena and Patrícia, who were studying medicine; they had moved to Croatia for a term in Rijeka. They kindly invited me to stay with them and offered to show me around the city.
I enjoyed my last bit of exploration of the area before leaving for Rijeka. This six story shell on the edge of the industrial docks was a relaxing way to spend the morning. It boasts fantastic views across the coastline and is perfect for that quiet getaway. A mere 6km to the city-centre, you are away from the hustle-and-bustle but close enough to visit. The exclusive open plan and minimalist structure demonstrates contemporary architecture with tasteful aviary-like beams. Bring a sleeping bag and enjoy before this uncharted treasure falls into the mainstream eye.
