Day 324 Barcelona - Día de Cataluña

Catalonia

I hired a bicycle to razz around the city whilst the celebrations were in full swing; when national and regional holidays like this are taking place the streets are empty of cars and so as long as you can dodge the people you can have a lot of fun and freedom. First up was a Castell, a human tower which was outside the El Born Centre Cultural and then a visit to the Parliament of Catalonia.  The towers were incredible and as you can see are a whopping seven people high!! Kids that look like they are in pre-school fearlessly climb to the top, pass over and then down the other side; they have nerves of steel. In the evening everyone heads to the fiesta at the Arc de Triomf and in Catalonian style it doesn't empty until early the next morning.
