Day 472-478 London

Brighton c'est fini and it was back to London for me. Steve lent me his Nikon DSLR to practise with so I could get used to manual settings as my old point-and-shoot lacked the capacity.  I was keen to try out a few long exposure shots at night where road traffic produces ribbons of light. I was starting to peer into a whole new world, right behind the lens.

These large devices had always seemed alien to me, with a dozen functions on top and buttons all around it was time to figure out what they do! Driven by obsession and having something to sink my teeth into I could extract every piece of knowledge, every technical detail and put it together to compose a few nice pictures. In reality it is an incredible skill to develop and there is a great deal to learn but I was going to give it a good crack. The imminent future held exposure to months of unique places and varied settings which would allow me to practise.  I feel like a beginner, but I’m hungry.

So here it is, the first (certainly not the best) long exposure I’ve ever taken. Time to get working.
