Day 403 Maribor
Urška's grandmother had cooked a feast of regional dishes; it was amazing to wake up to such delights. Slovenian food is delicious and suits the cooler climate I was experiencing. They are a big fan of beans and sauerkraut.
We went for a stroll in the late evening and finished in the centre of town. Urška introduced me to the city's history and the Monument Kojak. It is located in Trg Svobode, Freedom Square. The bronze spherical memorial pays tribute to those who lost their lives during World War II for rising up against the occupation. It was created by the local artist Slavko Tihec. Unfortunately the picture I had has been lost to the void, so you'll just have to visit yourself.
Sitting in a café, Nik honoured us with a beautiful performance on the house piano. A couple, who looked like they were on a date, stood up and began slow dancing. He quickly drew a crowd from those sipping on digestives.
