Day 396 Rijeka
Helena and I walked to a nearby beach which looks out across the Kvarner Gulf. There was a haze on the water which gave a blue pastel hue. I was hoping to visit nearby Opatija but I was just far too tired and wanted to lie on the cape. It was particularly peaceful apart from the occasional foghorn.
Patrícia joined us and we dined in the student mess hall where you can receive a large meal for under a Euro - in Croatia this price is incredible. It's fantastic that the country gives students such a discount to encourage further study and ease financial constraints.
This is one of the two main shipping towers at the docks; they light up at night and apparently the locals call them the Eiffel Towers of Rijeka.
