Day 376 Belgrade - A Day of Tanks
Dajana, Biljana, Mirjana and I arrived at Барокна капија, the Belgrade Fortress. You can expect great views of the river Sava. Overlooking the Sava is Pobednik (a memorial built to commemorate Serbia's victory over the Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian Empire) and tanks... lots and lots of tanks. The fortress contains relics from the past few hundred years up to the Cold War including this Stuart M3A3.
It turns out that my legs can hold a solid tan for months, the face pales but the legs remain triumphant.
I saw a number of bizarre things in the city. There were men with mobile barbeques strapped to their chest and a gas cylinder on their backs; hot dog venders have evolved. Some use weighing scales to make a little money, 25RSD (€0.20) can buy you a few seconds on the scales to determine your mass. My favourite that I have seen was in Albania where a man set up a telescope in the street pointed straight at the moon and for 25LEK (€0.18) you can take a peek.
