Day 346 Podgorica

The city is bizarre. It has a small CBD but is mostly industrial and quite desolate; for instance here is one of the many unfinished and forgotten buildings. You see stray impoverished dogs all over town that look like they struggle to survive, it is very sad.

I needed to replace my hiking pole after leaving it in the Pyrenees by mistake and went in search of a camping store. I was told there was a large market that sold camping gear nearby and made my way over. There is an indoor market in the north of the city and it’s comprised of a network of corridors formed from the stock people are shifting. Walking around they could smell a sale and when I stopped I was swarmed by the proprietors. They sold basic equipment like gas cylinders but no poles. They all phoned their friends to find something, which was a strange experience, but to no avail - no pole was found.

Back on the streets I walked past the city's Cathedral which is a whopping 3 years old! The saints inside resemble the current politicians and the politicians on the billboards in the street look like they're trying to sell you a used vehicle. Like I said, truly bizarre.
