Spending the day in transit I caught up on some podcasts and a little reading. If you find yourself short on time, maybe using up annual leave for a holiday, it can be quite frustrating to spend an entire day getting from one place to your next destination; however for someone such as myself that tends to live month at a time, it isn't really a problem. You actually get quite used to spending many hours on buses or at the side of the road waiting for a ride when hitchhiking. You find ways to occupy your mind but after a while you begin to switch off a little, which is rather refreshing.
I had seen Dick, Sam and Steve a few months previously but not yet on the road and when I turned up to the hostel looking, let's say a tad scruffy, Steve said to me, "you look like that guy you always see in a hostel". Thanks Steve. Now if you've spent some time away staying in hostels you always see 'that person' who looks a little ragged and in need of about a week’s sleep. We were all ravenous and Dick's only request was 'meat'; in Croatia that is easily fulfilled. We dined and later in the night went for a swim, starkers. And so begins Broatia.
