Day 328 Exiting the Pyrenees
I accidentally slept in. I had to make it to the city for 10:00am for my chariot back to Barcelona and I woke at 8am. After wishing Andrea and Alejandra a safe journey across to France, I began the 1000m descent. I'd never met such adventurous people who love all manner of extreme sports.
My average hiking pace on the flat with 20kg of gear is 4km/hr and I had to cover 8km with a steep gradient; the very careful hustle commenced. Down the mountain I watched every step and the clock as I came closer and closer to the target. You see so many beautiful things on the way that you do have to stop to take it all in. When I arrived I was able to check the Blabla schedule and realised the car-share was at 10:30am and I was in fact early. Success!! I stripped off to my undies as I'd worked up quite a sweat and needed to change; in all the commotion I boarded the vehicle without my hiking pole - it was a sad moment. The pole had served me well and was worn down to the nub; without it I couldn't have continued the Camino after my knee was injured.
