Originally the Minaret was built in the Moorish period and now functions as the bell tower of the Seville Cathedral; it was given a new weave by the Spanish extending it in 1568. The Imam would ride a donkey to the top of the 104m tower and holla out to the people for the call to prayer. Looking out across the city you really do feel like you're in another land. The north and south of the country are so different, the architecture, food and climate are almost unrecognisable.
